My research interests concern the taxonomy and ecology of hydromacrophytes, in particular the mechanism of competition at the level of algae, vascular plants and cyanobacteria in water bodies. The second key aspect of my interests are the stoneworts in the context of their taxonomy, ecology, implemented strategies and factors that determine their spatial organization.

Current Research

  • The role of polyphenolic substances in shaping the competition mechanism at the level of algae - vascular plants (pleustophytes) - microalgae (cyanobacteria) in the subsurface layer of water bodies

Research projects

  • 2021 - 2024

Project "Life in plastic, it's fantastic: unravelling the microalgal community of plastisphere across European lentic systems (PhytoPlastic)", which won the 4th Collaborative European Freshwater Science Project for Young Researchers "(FreshProject)" Call. Project funded by European Federation for Freshwater Sciences (EFFS – EFYR)

Papers

    2022

  • Gostyńska J., Pankiewicz R., Romanowska-Duda Z., Messyasz B. 2022. Overview of allelopathic potential of Lemna minor L. obtained from a shallow eutrophic lake. Molecules 27: 3428.
